Trauma Informed Yoga with Haley Picotte-Stozek
SAT JAN 16, 2027, 1:30 - 5 PM CST (SAT JAN 16, 2027, 1:30 - 5 PM CST)

This training offers an introduction to the foundations of trauma informed yoga through both lecture and experiential practice. Participants will explore how stress and trauma impact the nervous system, body, breath, behavior and sense of safety while learning practical ways yoga can support regulation, embodiment and resilience.

  • The lecture portion of the training explores the biology of trauma including the autonomic nervous system, survival responses, polyvagal theory and the relationship between trauma and the body. Participants will also learn foundational trauma informed teaching principles including language, pacing, choice making, environmental considerations and creating experiences that support nervous system safety and agency.

  • The experiential portion of the training includes a Trauma Informed Neurogenic Yoga Practice integrating mindfulness, grounding, breath awareness, therapeutic movement and principles influenced by Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE®). Developed by Dr. David Berceli, TRE® utilizes the body’s natural therapeutic tremor mechanism to help release deep muscular tension and support regulation of the nervous system. Participants will explore how neurogenic tremoring and mindful movement practices may support trauma integration, resilience and restoration within the body.
